Installation of the BAGT® grease separators

The installation of grease traps in the kitchen is usually carried out by a professional, but you can also do it yourself with a few basics of plumbing technology. The grease trap is ideally installed under the sink if the available volume is sufficient. You should allow at least 10 cm above the grease trap to open the lid and 15 cm on each side for the connections. The complete and detailed procedure for installing the grease trap can be found in our video:

Connecting the grease separator

The grease trap is connected between the sink and the drain into the sewer system. The waste water inlet in the grease separator is connected to the siphon under the sink.

It is worth using a gooseneck to avoid blockages. The basket is there to catch solid waste.

The grease separator has a PVC flow regulator DN50 and a brass outlet regulator 1 ¼" for draining the grease as well as an outlet regulator for emptying the collecting container. An additional inlet regulator is supplied for refilling water if the device is installed away from the sink.

If possible, close the drain regulator at the bottom to empty the device if necessary. Open this regulator to drain the fine debris at the bottom of the separator.

If the grease trap is not directly under the sink, the water must be connected to the 1/2″ inlet regulator. However, this regulator always remains closed unless you want to drain the grease.

How the grease separator works

The BAGT grease separator was specially developed to ohne Strom / elektrischen Anschluss to function. This means that it cannot fail and is practical to use at the same time. The waste water (consisting of water, grease and solid waste) from the sink goes into the basket of the grease separator. This basket, with a 2 mm mesh size, catches the solid waste above the water so that nothing drips down when it is removed. This basket is very easy to access and should be emptied daily if possible.

The solids then separate from the fatty water and settle. The BAGT® grease separators work differently because the grease separation process is optimized by the lamella system. The collected oils and fats can be stored in a barrel before being handed over to a specialist company. They can then be used as raw material for the production of biodiesel. Finally, the oil- and grease-free wastewater flows from the grease separator into the public sewer system.

Quick and easy installation

Installing the grease trap under the sink is made easier by the slat system. It is simple and quick, takes less than half a day and is usually carried out by a professional. This type of grease trap does not require major installation work, but in return requires regular cleaning.
